Bonifacio is a star attraction in Corsica, drawing visitors from all over the island and overseas to marvel at its medieval houses precariously teetering on the edge of the imposing limestone cliffs.

Bonifacio's Old Town, with a labyrinth of narrow streets and historic buildings, was built by the Genoese and is a fascinating place to wander around. Founded in 828 AD by Count Bonifacio of Tuscany, it's natural harbour bears a striking resemblence to the home of the Laestrygonians referred to in Homer's Odyssey of the 7th century BC.

The fine white sandy beaches of Southern Corsica are a must for any beach lover with the tranquil azure waters ideally suited to swimming, snorkeling and diving. The more energetic can make use of the consistent winds at the tip of the island that attract windsurfers and kite surfers alike.

Boat trips from the marina are very popular and destinations include the wild nature reserve islands of Lavezzi , the Italian island of Sardinia. Day trips inland can easily incorporate mountain walks in the breathtaking peaks of the Alta Rocca, visits to traditional Corsican mountain villages and towns, or exploring the prehistoric sites at Pianu di Levie.

It nestles on the east coast, in a splendid environment, resting between the sea and the maquis, with an unmatched view of Sardinia and the Lavezzi islands. It is here that the famous architect Robert Trent Jones Senior has created his masterpiece, offering players an experience that is as close to nature as possible.

Playing here is an absolute pleasure, even if your score is a little disappointing.  It provides the joy of the game, a journey of discovery and the chance to live the dream. Once you play the course you will be left with a strong desire to play again, this time armed with a greater knowledge of what lies ahead. Nevertheless, you will soon realise that Sperone never plays the same, and this is perhaps its true charm. For those who do not play golf, you can still go and enjoy lunch in the club’s restaurant. It has a terrace that offers a panoramic view over Piantarella and the Lavezzi archipelago which is unique. Without a doubt, this southern Finisterre is well worth the detour!
